Crichton Medalist Brendon Goddard will return to full training within the next week as he continues his recovery from a calf strain.

Goddard suffered the injury during the club’s recent high altitude camp to Boulder Colorado in December.

Club doctor Bruce Reid said the star midfielder was expected to increase his workload by next week.

“Brendon had a minor calf injury which stopped him from doing too much for about two weeks,” Reid said.

“He is now running really well at top speed and he is at four and a half weeks (since the injury) so he will be in full training after six weeks.”

Reid said it was pleasing to have the majority of the playing group on the track at this time of the pre-season.

“All of the list will be in full training, there is a couple of shoulder reconstruction's from the off-season that we will keep out of full contact,” Reid said.

“The important thing is they are all out on the track, there is no one now that is not back in full training.”

“We are very happy with our injury situation at the moment as we were last year at the same time of year.”

Dashing defender Courtenay Dempsey has almost resumed a full workload after a minor calf complaint and has already resumed training with the main group.

Big man Patrick Ryder is also recovering from a soft tissue injury and is expected to return to full training within the next ten days.

Reid confirmed all players that underwent post-season surgery had recovered well with no complications in any recovery.
