Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro believes the Club's list is strong enough to cover the loss of draft selections in the upcoming national draft.

The Bombers will not have a selection in the first two rounds of the 2013 and 2014 drafts but will be granted a selection at the end of round one in 2014.

“It is what it is. We accept the position and we will not use it as an excuse going forward,” Dodoro said.

“There is no way known that this club in five or six years time will say that these penalties have cost us success because it won’t have.”

“We have got a loyal and hard working group of recruiting and list management people that are working extremely hard to continue the growth of our senior team.”

Despite the loss of picks, the club is able to trade back into the draft if it chooses to via the upcoming trade period.

“If the opportunity presents to trade in early then we will but we will not be releasing quality players,” Dodoro said.

“We want to galvanise the group and keep the group together because we believe we are on the right path.”

The Bombers list manager pointed to the club’s recent success with recruiting quality players late in the draft and as rookies.

“We have a very good record of drafting talent late such as Michael Hibberd, Cale Hooker, Mark Baguley and Nick Kommer who are all picks after 50 or rookie selections,” he said.

“We just need to continue to work hard and be smart in our recruiting approach."
