Essendon Football Club extends its deepest sympathies to the Reynolds family, following the sad passing of Jeanne.

Jeanne, beloved wife of the late Dick Reynolds, passed away on Monday evening.

The Board of Directors, Players and Staff wish to pass on their sincere condolences. Jeanne was 96 years of age.

Jack Jones, former premiership teammate of Dick, said the club was mourning the loss of Jeanne.

“Dick and Jeanne were a lovely couple and we spent lots of time with them. We have been close friends for many years,” Jones said.

“We used to get together with Dick, Bill Hutchison, Les Gardiner and Bob McClure and our wives and we used to rotate hosting dinner parties. We would talk about past times and enjoyed each others company."

Dick is Essendon’s greatest ever player. He played 320 games and kicked 442 goals in a 19-year career with Essendon that included three Brownlow medals in five years in 1934, '37 and '38, and seven best and fairests. Reynolds also captain-coached the Bombers to four premierships, in 1942, '46, '49 and '50, played 19 times for Victoria, including six as captain, and also coached the state team in 1959.
