Essendon Football Club has today announced memberships on sale for season 2014.

As the club sets its sights on reaching a record 60,000 members for 2014, newly appointed senior coach Mark Thompson encouraged supporters to contribute directly to the club’s success by becoming an important member of the team.

“There is no doubt this year was difficult for our supporters, but we have learnt so much and there is so much optimism and excitement about what we can achieve as a club next season,” Thompson said.

“Throughout the club, we have a united and galvanised group. The players are ready, and everyone from the board, coaches, playing group and staff are all eager for the 2014 campaign. We are sure our members are too.”

Chairman Paul Little said he was confident the club could reach its ambitious 60,000 member target.

“In 2013 we broke our all time membership record with over 56,000 members. Our next challenge is to hit 60,000 members in season 2014,” Little said.

“We have had a difficult year, but through these trying times our members remained the heart-and-soul of our football club. We are rebuilding the Essendon brand and we are listening to our members.

“As a member, there are many things to look forward to at the Essendon Football Club next season. As we prepare to move in to our new state-of-the-art facility, I have every confidence that the High Performance Centre, that our members have helped create, will lead to the next golden era for our club.”
