A South Australian Indigenous artist has been crowned the winner of the club’s Point, Click, Capture, Upload and Tag photographic competition and exhibition.

Rhonda Unrupa Dick from Tjala Arts won with competition with her submission of Panel 1 (from the series, Red and Black Represent).

Essendon star and Indigenous ambassador Paddy Ryder was the competition judge and awarded Rhonda with a $1000 cash prize and a personalised Essendon Football Club signed guernsey.

“The photo by Rhonda was a stand out for me about how grassroots footy in communities is the life blood for so many people,” Ryder said.

14 photographic images were selected as finalists from nearly 50 entries in this unique competition that aimed to encourage people in remote, rural and city based communities to capture the positive effects of footy and how it enriches their lives in new and innovative ways.

Essendon Football Club will acquire the 14 finalists’ photographs and following the exhibition at Alcaston Gallery, will be displayed at the club’s new High Performance Centre at Melbourne Airport.

Alcaston Gallery is currently exhibiting the collection. Click here for more information.
