Michael Hurley’s chances of lining up against West Coast have been boosted with the key forward recovering well from a wrist injury suffered in Saturday night’s win against Gold Coast.

Hurley is expected to take his place in the side despite aggravating a previous wrist injury late in the match.

“The way he has pulled up at recovery training it is pretty good, he will have scans later in the week just to make sure there is no breaks or anything like that,” Football Operations Manager Steve Alessio said.

“Usually you know if that is the case because of how sore it is which is not evident today at recovery training.”

“We are hoping he will be alright with a week’s rest and be right for West Coast when we play them next round.”

Veteran defender Dustin Fletcher is also expected to line up against the Eagles after missing last week’s match against Gold Coast with groin tightness.

“Fletch was close to playing but we thought with the bye coming up it was best to give him an extra week off with a tight groin,” Alessio said.

“We would expect him to be pushing for selection to return to the side against the Eagles next Thursday night.”

Jake Melksham is expected to take on the Eagles after suffering a  corked quad from his clash with Gold Coast defender Tom Lynch early in the second quarter.

“It was a great contest with great courage as he went back into the pack and as we saw it was a massive collision,” Alessio said.

“He came out of it pretty good with a collision like that and a really good corkie so he is now doing everything he needs to in regards to recovery so he should be right.”

Jake Carlisle also received a heavy knock against the Suns but with a ten day break is not expected to suffer any time on the sidelines.

“There is always with the type of collision that Jake Carlisle had that it may be ribs or something like that but he was just really winded and has pulled up well,” Alessio said.

Leroy Jetta isn’t expected to be hampered by quad tightness that saw him sit out Essendon’s VFL loss to Williamstown on Sunday afternoon.

Courtenay Dempsey is currently on the break with his teammates following his heavy knock against Sydney in Round 10, he is expected to return to full training on Thursday with the club hopeful he will push for selection against West Coast.
