Essendon fans are continuing to show their support for the club ahead of our first home game of the 2013 season signing up as members in record numbers.

The club officially passed its 2012 total of 47,708 members on Wednesday morning with the current total sitting at 47,756.

That total puts the club 3,500 members ahead of the same time last year with its sights firmly set on reaching 50,000 members in the coming weeks.

In 2011 Essendon reached 50,271 members and is hoping to pass that number in 2013, making it the biggest year of membership in the club’s history.

General Manager – Membership, Community and Fan Development Anita Fox said the fans were continuing to show their support for the club in the most practical way possible.

“We are delighted with the support the Essendon fans are showing the club this year,” Fox said.

“A strong membership base is so important to the whole football club and our members are showing their true colours by recognising that and joining up in 2013.”

“We have put a lot of work into making sure we have packages available for every age group and every price point this year and are receiving a lot of positive feedback about the new packages and great value that some of our new entry level memberships offer – in particular for juniors.”
