Essendon Football Club will embark on Victoria’s picturesque Alpine region for its Australia Post AFL Community Camp on Wednesday.

The club’s full playing list and coaches will be attending the camp culminating in Essendon’s round two NAB Cup match against Richmond at Wangaratta Showgrounds at 5.10pm.

Kicking off the camp on Wednesday will be a NAB Superclinic at Wangaratta Showgrounds from 4pm.

On Thursday there will be visits to 10 schools and 8 community groups throughout the areas of Bright, Beechworth and Myrtleford.

Then on Friday there will be a short pre-game training session at Wangaratta Showgrounds from 9am followed by a post training signing session from 10.30am.

Essendon captain Jobe Watson said the community camp was an important part of giving back to the rural areas.

“Country people are very passionate about football and they support it not only by watching but also financially and a lot of them don’t get the opportunity to come but they still support it,” Watson said.

“I don’t think it is a big inconvenience for players to go out and spend some time with those communities and then play a game out there.”

The Bomber Shop is also taking to the road with the merchandise marquee coming along for the ride.

The marquee will be selling a range of official Essendon items including 2013 adidas guernseys and on field gear, member and club exclusive products, cap’s, scarves, flags and more.

Make sure you purchase your official merchandise directly from the club when you see the marquee at various locations throughout the camp as well as at the Wangaratta Showgrounds for the NAB Cup game.
