AFL Football Operations Manager Andrew Demetriou today said Calder Cannons player James Davies had no case to answer in relation to his conduct in the lead up to Sunday's 2000 Coca-Cola AFL National Draft.
Mr Demetriou said the Essendon Football Club also had no case to answer and the AFL now considered the matter closed.
There had been reports Davies, captain of Xavier College, stood out of the AFL Draft Camp and refused to speak with clubs interested in selectiong him at the draft.
"The AFL has spoken to James Davies and the Essendon Football Club and there is no case to be answered by any party regarding the rules and regulations of the National Draft," Mr Demetriou said.
"The AFL considers the matter to be closed and there will be no repercussions whatsoever for James Davies, regardless of which club may choose to pick him at Sunday's Draft Meeting.
"James is preparing for final Year 12 exams at this time and we would ask the media to respect his privacy until Sunday's draft," he said.
