Essendon Football Club is pleased to confirm the appointment of Paul Corrigan as Development Welfare Coach.

Corrigan played 53 games with Geelong between 1997 and 2000 before developing an extensive coaching background working with young footballers throughout Victoria.

His coaching career began as an assistant coach at Gippsland before moving to Old Haileybury and then most recently South Barwon where he held the position of Director of Football.

Essendon General Manager – Football Danny Corcoran welcomed Corrigan to the club.

“We are pleased to welcome Paul onto our coaching panel ahead of the 2013 season,” Corcoran said.

“Paul brings a great deal of experience in developing young footballers through his previous coaching experience at Old Haileybury and South Barwon.

“We look forward to him working closely with our Head of Player Development to continue to transition our first and second year players into the AFL system.”

Corrigan will also play a key welfare role with the younger players at the club.
