Key pair Brent Stanton (groin) and Courtenay Dempsey (ankle) will miss Friday night’s blockbuster against Geelong after failing to prove their fitness at training during the week.

The Bombers have made six changes to their side to take on the Cats bringing in Dustin Fletcher, Jake Carlisle, Dyson Heppell, Michael Hurley, Jason Winderlich and Nathan Lovett-Murray.

Tayte Pears (omitted), Leroy Jetta (omitted), Jackson Merrett (omitted), David Hille (omitted), Dempsey (ankle) and Stanton (groin) are all out of the side that defeated GWS in Round 6.

Football Operations Manager Steve Alessio said Dempsey did not do enough at training in the lead up to the match to prove his fitness.

“Courtenay has a sore ankle and didn’t do enough work during the week at training so we didn’t want to risk taking him into Friday night's match.”

“We will continue to monitor him throughout the week and expect to have him back on the field hopefully for the match against Brisbane.”

Lovett-Murray comes into the side for his first match of the season.
