Essendon midfielder David Myers believes there were plenty of positives to take from Friday night’s 28-point loss to undefeated Geelong.

The Bombers won majority of the key statistics during the match but poor kicking in front of goal and rushed decision-making ultimately proved the difference between the two sides.

“I don’t think you could fault our effort and the boys won a lot of the key stats that would normally get you across the line,” Myers told BomberTV post match.

“Unfortunately we missed a few shots on goal, Geelong are a quality side and we have a bit of work to do but we are all up for it.”

“I just think they moved the ball up the field a bit better at times, they seem to move it up the field with a lot more ease than we did.”

Myers finished with 19 disposals and 2 goals but said like the rest of his teammates they have improvements to make ahead of Saturday’s match against Brisbane.

“Like the rest of the boys I have a bit of work to do and look forward to redeeming next week.”

“It (goal kicking) is the difference between winning and losing a game of footy so a bit of work to do but a lot of positives and the boys will bounce back.”

Forward Stewart Crameri (6 marks, 1 goal) said after the match the pressure of Geelong made quality delivery of the ball to the forward line difficult.

“I think they were under too much pressure from the Geelong midfielders to hit up the target and they felt like they had to go long because they felt like it was a safer option at the time.”

“I know if I continue to lead at the ball you are going to get a couple of hit ups but I think a couple of guys need to lead at the ball a bit more.”

Essendon take on Brisbane from 1.45pm on Saturday afternoon at Etihad Stadium.
