Essendon Captain Jobe Watson says his teammates will be looking for ‘sustained consistency’ for the remainder of the season.

Watson has been ruled out for the year with a shoulder injury.

He says he’s disappointed he won’t be alongside his teammates as they try to rectify the season.

“I understand the expectations going into the year haven’t matched the output but we’re hoping the guys will be able to find some form and the effort we’ve shown in patches can be sustained for full games,” Watson said.

“Looking at the last half of this year, we want to hopefully see that sort of effort and sustained consistency which will make us a lot competitive.”

The Bombers take on Melbourne this Saturday at the MCG.
