The Bombers will have a number of potential stars to pick from when they make their first two selections at next week’s NAB AFL Draft.

Adrian Dodoro and his recruiting team haven’t had top end picks at their disposal like this since 2008.

On that occasion the Bombers secured now All-Australian defender Michael Hurley with pick five.

In 2015, they will have two blue chip selections; picks four and five.

If it’s a midfielder the Dons covet, Darcy Parish could be their man.

He’s slight but highly skilled and comes out of the Geelong Falcons program that has produced so many recent champions including Luke Hodge, Jonathan Brown and Gary Ablett.

“He might even be the best midfielder including the Academy players,” AFL Draft expert, Callum Twomey said.

“He averaged 28 possessions in the TAC Cup.  Sometimes people mistake him as only an outside midfielder but he’s a real gun at the clearances as well.

“He’s a light bodied player, he’s 181 centimetres and only 75 kilograms but put him in to an elite system and he’ll be able to build his body up pretty quickly and become a real inside and outside midfielder.”

Clayton Oliver is another midfield option that has rocketed up the draft board late in the season.

The Murray Bushranger has that big body that can be so valuable around the stoppages, but he also has that burst of speed – having broken three seconds for the 20 metre sprint at the Draft Combine.

“He kept his training up and he presented really well,” Twomey said.

“He just kept winning the footy and kicking goals.  He’s a midfielder who goes forward, which most clubs really like.

“People like big bodied midfielders with a touch of aggression and a touch of swagger and that’s what Clayton Oliver plays with.”

Another midfield option is Wayne Milera who already has some SANFL senior football under his belt.

He also broke three seconds for the 20 metre sprint at the Draft Combine.

“He’s smooth, he’s composed, he uses the ball really well on both sides of his body,” Twomey said.

“He played some great senior footy over there for Central Districts in the SANFL towards the end of the year – I think he kicked five goals in one of the games and had 25 touches.

“He’s shown that he could be one of the great talents of this year’s draft.”
