A little bit of both would be the best result for Essendon with picks 24 and 25 according to AFL Draft expert, Callum Twomey.

The Bombers multitude of picks gives the recruiting team great flexibility through the first two rounds.

Twomey said if Daniel Rioli is available, the Dons shouldn’t hesitate.

“If Rioli got through they’d have to be pretty quick on calling out his name because they need the small forward and have lacked that sort of role over the last few years,” he said.

“I think he could certainly come in to the forward line and add some danger and some skill.”

Such a selection would then allow the Bombers to go for a highly rated tall with pick 25.

“I think Ben McKay would be a good selection for the Bombers too,” Twomey said.

“They need the cover in defence.  He’d be given a little bit of time to develop.

“I think he’s an Essendon supporter as well…so that adds a nice little bit of romance to it as well.”
