After a season ruined by injury, David Myers is excited to get back onto the field in 2016.

The powerful midfielder didn't play a full game in 2015 after being injured in the opening moments of the round one clash against Sydney.

Although he made a brief return later in the season against Adelaide, Myers again found himself on the sideline for the remainder of the year.

The West Australian has had a rough run with injury since making his debut in 2008 and is hopeful that he will be able to remain injury free in 2016.

“It was a pretty tough year, but I’m healthy at the moment and if it stays that way, I’ll be laughing,” he said.

“I’ve had a lot of bad luck over the years so I’m feeling fine. As long as I don’t get cannoned into the wrong way, I’ll be ok.

“It’s been pretty consistent where I’ve had injury trouble most seasons unfortunately, with last year being the worst of it where I only played a couple of quarters for the year.”

Myers has returned to the pre-season fit, strong and refreshed by the presence of so many new faces.

He is also excited by John Worsfold’s inclusive approach to the pre-season with his vision for the future of the Club resonating throughout the team.

“John’s got his vision for the Club and where we want to head and that’s been pretty exciting to listen to," Myers said.

“He’s been big on buy in from all the players, so we’ve been doing just a lot of work on all areas of the game and brainstorming from the boys on what we think works and what doesn’t work and trying to all get on the same page moving forward.”

The group wrapped up a three-day camp in Healesville which focused more on setting expectations and goals for the upcoming season.

Leadership and the captaincy was one of the main topics.

Although there is much speculation as to whether current Captain Jobe Watson will continue on in the job in 2016, Myers made it clear that Watson still has a lot to offer.

“It’s a no brainer for me. It’s Jobe everyday of the week,” Myers said.

“As long as he felt that he still had the passion, still wanted to do it and it wasn’t a burden – for me he’s the obvious choice by a mile.

“He’s been outstanding as I’m sure everyone knows.”
