Jason Ashby is expected to be available for selection this weekend after overcoming an ankle injury.

The 21 year old picked up nine possessions and took five marks before hurting his ankle late in the win over Carlton.

He trained with the main group today and has been passed fit for Saturday’s match against Geelong in Shepparton.

“He’s pulled up really well,” High Performance Manager Justin Crow said.

“He’s done all the training this week so far and he’ll be available to play on the weekend.”

Patrick Ambrose wasn't selected for the match against the Blues, but he is in full training and available for this weekend’s clash with the Cats.

Matthew Leuenberger is also edging closer to a return, as he builds up his training volumes following an Achilles problem.

“He had a good session today,” Crow said.

“We’re hoping that all going well, he’ll put himself in the mix for NAB 3 (against West Coast).”

New recruit James Polkinghorne is close to overcoming a calf complaint and is expected to be fit for round one.
