There is still plenty of incentive to win around the Bombers, according to ruckman Mark Jamar.

Essendon travel to Western Australia to take on the winless Dockers with the battle expected to heat-up as the Bombers search for their second win of the season.

Jamar was quick to hit back at claims that the Bombers would be better off with a loss, and ultimately securing a higher draft pick.

“Personally, I think that’s rubbish,” said Jamar

“I’ve been listening to a fair bit of that on SEN and the like. Obviously, if they do a draft lottery it might make things a bit different.

“With the current system the way it is there, will always be that talk.

“However, we go out to win games of footy. For us, another win would mean the world.”

The win would be particularly important to many of the Club’s young players, with Jamar highlighting the importance of a victory in a player’s development.

“Our young guys learn so much from a win and looking how we go about it, and looking how we achieve the win and breaking it down,” said Jamar

“To sit there and review a game and actually show how we can win, it’s pretty exciting.

“I think that’s a big incentive for us.”

Essendon has not beaten the Dockers since 2013, and will be searching for an important win as they once again travel deep into enemy territory.

The Dockers have also found themselves in a difficult position in 2016 and are yet to register a win for the season.

With a large amount on the table in terms of pride, Jamar believes that the contest will reach great heights.

“Freo haven’t been travelling that well, but they’re always going to be closer to their first win as well,” said Jamar

“I think it’s going to be a good contest, obviously a tough road trip for us to make it across there, but they’ll be coming out firing.

“They’ll want to get a win and we obviously want to get our second win.

“I think that it’ll be a very good contest and a lot of contested footy.”
