Essendon VFL will head into this Sunday’s Semi-Final looking for another big win.

The team will be buoyed after their monumental win against Geelong in last week’s elimination final.

Essendon were gallant in their performance, refusing to let a third quarter blitz from the Cats keep the down.

The boys fought back from a 22-point deficit in the final term to run away with a 22-point victory.

However, there is still more work to do as they come up against a Footscray outfit who will be looking to put a disappointing performance behind them, and keep their finals hopes alive.

There are no changes to the team this week, with the Coaches backing the performances from all the players to carry them through and get the win over the Dogs.

The fans showed up in their masses to support the boys last week, with Coach Matthew Egan believing that they were ultimately the difference.

“Last year the fans came out in the same force and it builds every week, I thought there was probably 80 per cent Essendon fans there on the weekend, it was amazing,” Egan said.

“Talking to the players after the game they said a few of them have never been on a field like that, it feels so intimate and every goal we kicked the fans were going crazy. It’s great for our young players to experience that sort of atmosphere.

“It was big but hopefully this week against the Bulldogs will be even bigger.”

The Bombers will return to North Port Oval this Sunday to take on Footscray from 2.40pm. The match will be broadcast on Channel 7.
