Ben Howlett has been ruled out of this Sunday’s match against Carlton with a hamstring injury.

The 28 year old returned to the Bombers line-up for last week’s match against Brisbane.

He picked up 15 possessions in his first game for the Club since round 23 2015.

But early in his return, Howlett felt some discomfort in his hamstring and subsequent scans have confirmed a strain.

“Ben had a tight hamstring in the second quarter, he was still able to run at 98 per cent of his top speed through the rest of the game,” High Performance Manager Justin Crow said.

“We didn’t think a lot of it at time, [but] on the MRI he’s got some signal in his semitendinosus, which is an unusual spot but it’s low grade.

“We’re going to do the right thing by Ben and he’ll miss one to two weeks and just make sure that’s healed.

“It’s the sort of thing you could play with if it was Grand Final week.”

Howlett has played 118 games for the Bombers since making his debut in 2010.
