David Zaharakis is likely to make a decision on his future at the end of Essendon’s 2017 season, according to his Player Manager and Essendon champion, Scott Lucas.

Zaharakis has been among the Bomber’s most consistent players this season, averaging 26 disposals, five marks and four tackles.

Speaking on The Footy Panel podcast, Lucas said all parties are comfortable with where the contract discussions are currently at.

“We have had lots of conversations, we are working through it all now,” Lucas said.

“I feel I need to give the fans something here - it’s (the delay is) a little bit of all of that.

“Both parties are relatively comfortable with where it’s at.

“If we thought it was impacting David’s football then there might be a slightly different approach.

“You get to this time of year and then you might go ‘let’s let it roll’ and then we’ll sort it out.”
