Michael Hurley provided a commanding presence in defence for the Bombers throughout the 2017 season.

A rich vein of form from ANZAC Day through to late in the season sealed a second All Australian call-up and confirmed he will be one of the top contenders for the Crichton Medal.

The 27 year old recorded 127 more disposals than he had in any other season and registered 30 or more disposals six times.

He was also the number one ranked player in the competition for rebounds from the defensive 50.

Hurley's averages of 25.6 disposals, 7.7 marks and 6.9 rebounds were the highest of his career.

His standout performances came against Richmond in round ten (27 disposals, ten contested possessions and eight rebounds), Brisbane in round 15 (31 disposals) and the Western Bulldogs in round 19 (30 disposals, 13 marks and eight rebounds).

Hurley was runner-up in the Crichton Medal in 2015.
