Essendon spearhead Joe Daniher has taken out the Woolworths Mark of the Year over Collingwood high-flyer Jeremy Howe.

Daniher won the fan vote for his screamer against St Kilda in round 17. He earned 52 per cent of the vote ahead of Howe's 41 per cent for his brilliant mark on Queen's Birthday against Melbourne in round 12.

Howe's teammate Brodie Grundy's effort in round 14 against Port Adelaide had the remaining 7 per cent.

Daniher rose above former teammate Jake Carlisle in an amazing effort to take the footy about four metres off the ground.

At the conclusion of the home and away season, the AFL’s All-Australian Selection Committee selected the best three marks from a selection of 28 (the 23 weekly winners, along with five other contenders as determined by the AFL Media footy expert selectors).

The best three in each category were based on a 5/4/3/2/1 vote given by each member of the selection committee. The winner of the Woolworths Mark of the Year was determined by a public vote.
