Devon Smith on why he joined the Bombers (Trade Radio):

“I just really enjoyed watching their footy last year, such an exciting brand and a good young list I believe.

"I think they’re really going places, there is no guarantees in footy but I think they’ve got some good foundations set to go forward.

“I just couldn’t believe how young their list was ... their room for improvement is still massive.

“That’s really exciting for me and then you look at the spine – Hurley, Hooker, Daniher – it’s pretty dangerous.”

John Worsfold on Devon Smith

“He’s an exciting midfielder who hunts the footy, uses it well and will give us really strong run.

“He obviously adds that depth that we’ve been looking to add to our midfield group.

“The first thing is talent - we want guys we know can play at the elite level – but also character – guys that are hungry to get the best out of themselves fit in with what we’re trying to build here in terms of players owning their own career and driving themselves to achieve the maximum they can.

“By doing so they help us as a team achieve the goals we’re aiming to achieve.

“’Dev’ fits all of those things for us.”

Adrian Dodoro on Devon Smith

“Devon has got speed and endurance, he uses the ball really well, he’s got a really good footy brain and I go back to his numbers at TAC Cup – he was getting high 30s (disposals) week in and week out,” he said.

“We’re starting to get a really nice mix and he’s a beautiful age demographic around 23-24 years of age and he’s got another eight or nine years of really good football ahead of him.

“He is an exceptional talent, he was second in the best and fairest at a young age and he’s coming from a club that has got a lot of talent but he just couldn’t get in the midfield.

“He gets that opportunity with us and I think he’ll prove to be an excellent player.”
