Essendon will add to its list of brilliant blockbuster matches in 2019 when it faces North Melbourne on Good Friday.

It will be just the third edition of the Good Friday game, and club CEO Xavier Campbell sees it as a terrific opportunity to help contribute to the traditional Good Friday Appeal on a significant scale.

"We feel a great sense of privilege to face North Melbourne for the Good Friday game in that twilight timeslot at Marvel Stadium," Campbell said.

"As clubs representing the north-west corridor of Melbourne, it is our shared responsibility to generate important awareness and funds for the Good Friday Appeal and we look forward to working closely with North Melbourne in the lead up to the match to do so.”

The entertainment on the field is expected to live up to the big day. The Bombers faced the Kangaroos just once in 2018, with both sides putting on a show in a cracking 35-goal contest as Essendon proved too strong in the end, prevailing by 17 points.

Next year’s clash will lead nicely into the side’s traditional ANZAC Day match against Collingwood, and Campbell said the club is thrilled to be able to take part in the pair of important games.

"Following the Good Friday game, we'll face Collingwood in the traditional ANZAC Day clash only six days later and we're proud to be featuring in two blockbuster games that have a strong sense of representing and honouring various aspects of our wider community,” he said.
