The Essendon Football Club and the Windy Hill Venue are proud to announce their donation of $191,008 to 10 Essendon grass root sporting clubs.

Through the trading profits of the Windy Hill Venue, the Bombers have distributed $131,052 to the 10 local sporting clubs of the Essendon Community Sporting Sections, with a further $59,956 made available through a dedicated annual capital works grants program.

The members of the Essendon Community Sports Sections include Athletics Essendon, Essendon Baseball Club, Essendon Bowls Club, Essendon Hockey Club, Essendon Rowing Club, Essendon Tennis Club, Essendon Cricket Club, Essendon Croquet Club, Essendon Water Polo Club and Essendon Netball Club.

Essendon Hockey Club’s Graeme Spurr thanked the club for its support.

“There is no doubt that over the past couple of years participation in community sport has suffered,” Spurr said.

“Despite that, we have done reasonably well in keeping a good number of our teams "on the park" and the support of the Essendon Football Club has helped considerably.”

President of the Essendon Rowing Club Simone Richardson said the funding will help the club recover from the recent floods that damaged their facilities.

“Our club is highly appreciative of the funding assistance from Essendon towards our members' lounge upgrade project,” Richardson said.

“Especially after the recent flooding of our ground floor and boatsheds that necessitated an exhausting volunteer-driven clean-up effort by our members.”

In 2022, the Essendon Community Sport Sections comprised 10 local sporting clubs with a combined number of registered members of more than 2,500.
