Essendon Football Club is proud to again field a team in the Robert Rose Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) in 2022, having joined the competition in its inaugural 2018 season.

The Bombers enter the 2022 VWFL season on the back of two consecutive grand finals, and will again compete against Collingwood, Hawthorn, St Kilda and Richmond this year.

After a couple of disrupted years for the VWFL, the 2022 season will see the introduction of the VWFL Development League to help strengthen and grow the sport of Wheelchair AFL in Victoria.

This will see the Bombers increase their squad size to 14, with spots open to disabled and able-bodied players, males and females and people of all ages.

Over the last couple of years, the wheelchair team have come together and committed ourselves to don the sash in true Essendon fashion. Taking on the 150 years of history that's embedded in the red and black jumper, we ride every bump, we make every contest, we strive for the glory and fame as every true die-hard Bomber does.
