Essendon and North Melbourne has taken part in a cultural gift exchange during their round 10 clash at Marvel Stadium.

Before Sunday's coin toss, Essendon's Jade Gresham joined Captain Zach Merrett at the coin toss for a gift exchange. The Bombers’ gift was a Bayadherra, which in Yorta Yorta language is a long-necked turtle, the Yorta Yorta totem.

The Bombers' gift was created by Yorta Yorta artist Jack Anselmo from Kaiela Arts Shepparton.

North Melbourne gifted a coolamon. The ironbark tree object was created by Arron Nicholls, a proud Wadi Wadi, Ngarrindjeri and Wiradjuri man with strong connections to river Country, especially the beautiful Murray River amongst the River Red Gums and Mallee.

Coolamons are traditionally used for straining seed or carrying berries like quandong.
