Essendon has today made further changes to its list with Ben McNiece and Jordan Houlahan notified they would not receive new contracts.

McNiece was recruited by the Bombers as a Category B rookie through the Next Generation Academy in November 2016, playing 15 games in the red and black.

Houlahan was drafted with pick No.49 in the 2017 national draft but was unable to break into the senior side in his two years at The Hangar.

General manager of football Dan Richardson thanked the young men for their contributions to the club.

“On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Ben and Jordan for their efforts during their careers at Essendon,” Richardson said.

“Ben displayed great dedication to the program, he was a popular player amongst the group and brought great leadership to our younger players.

“Although Jordan was unable to make his debut for the club, he always maintained professional standards and showed commitment in his approach to developing his football career.

“We wish both Ben and Jordan all the best in their future endeavours.”

The club has now made the following changes to its list:

Delisted – Ben McNiece and Jordan Houlahan

Retired – David Myers, Matt Dea and Mark Baguley
