A passionate Essendon supporter has celebrated his upcoming 100th birthday in style with club legends Kevin Sheedy and Simon Madden by his side.

Fred Cariss will reach the amazing milestone on Thursday, the same day the Bombers run out in the elimination final against West Coast, and the legendary supporter was on hand to cheer on the Dons at their open training session at The Hangar on Monday.

Joined by his son Michael, daughter-in-law Gaye, grandson Blair and great grandson Baxter, Fred was presented with a special personalised jumper by Sheedy and Madden for his commitment to the club and the Cariss family’s ongoing support through the Diamond Dons, Essendonians and Player Sponsor programs.

A close friend of Essendon champion Harold Lambert, Fred will be beside fellow red and black legends Ken Fraser and Barry Capuano to celebrate the big day on Thursday.
