New Coach John Worsfold will be demanding the most from the team right from day one of the pre-season.

Speaking at Thursday night’s Member Forum,  Worsfold was passionate about his vision for the future placing importance on once again becoming one of the strongest teams in the AFL.

Worsfold said he would foster an environment that respects the Club’s themes of ‘no finish line’ and ‘everyone matters’.

“I’ve only been an Essendon person for a very short period of time, but whatever I’ve  done in  my life I put myself into, I throw everything into it,” Worsfold said.

“I believe so much in the fact that everyone matters.”

Worsfold told the nearly 1,200 strong crowd they would once again be able to enjoy going to the football and expect a change in the way the team conducts themselves on and off the field, with more fan and member engagement to be expected.

The incoming coach also highlighted his intention to put the team through one of the most rigorous pre-seasons to date.

“It will be tough. Pre-season is tough, but it has to be because the competition is tough.  It preys on the weak and we have to make sure that we are tough ones and we will prey on every other Club,” Worsfold said.

“There is no finish line and I’m going to challenge these guys to find more than they’ve ever found before in terms of their preparation, but also in terms of their passion for representing the Essendon Football Club.”

Worsfold is under no illusion  there is still a lot of hard work to be done.

“In my 26-years playing and coaching football, I’ve been involved in finals for about 18 years. I don’t like missing out,” he said.

"I never plan holidays for September."
