Essendon returned to the training track on Monday morning taking part in a gruelling skills session at Windy Hill.

The Bombers trained for over an hour in their first session back from a Christmas break in hot and dry conditions.

A slimmed down Michael Hurley continued to show positive signs, as did veteran Dustin Fletcher showing he will continue to be the general across the back line in 2013.

Big man Paddy Ryder returned in impressive condition following the two-week break, as did 25-year-old Mark Baguley fresh from his elevation to the club’s senior list.

The leadership of Brendon Goddard was once again on show as he provided plenty of voice and direction to the young Bombers brigade.

Essendon will continue to ramp up its match simulation sessions in the lead up to the opening game of the NAB Cup against Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs on February 15.
