Essendon Football Club is proud to support Harmony Day 2012, an initiative aimed at celebrating cultural diversity.

Harmony Day, celebrated on March 21, is aimed at encouraging Australians to embrace the many things that make Australia unique and share what we have in common.

In 2012 the theme for Harmony Day is Sport – Play, Engage, Inspire which recognizes the important role that sport plays in our multicultural nation.

As part of its commitment to multicultural programs the Essendon Football Club will be running a number of harmony themed football clinics throughout Melbourne.

The six primary schools involved in the clinics have been picked based on having at least 60% of students from a language background other than English.

In addition to the six school’s that will be visited there will also be a number of harmony day footy sessions at Latrobe University, NMIT Tafe and Box Hill TAFE.

Each year the club runs a number of multicultural programs for international students, new migrants and refugees and in 2011 was awarded the Victorian multicultural business award for excellence.

Celebrate Harmony Day on March 21 by wearing something orange to show your support for cultural diversity in Australia.
