Several flexible options are available to Essendon members to help protect the future of the club.

Pledge direct to the club

Pledging your membership direct to the club means you are choosing to maintain your 2020 membership amount and your membership payments will remain with the club.

You will continue to receive member benefits (excluding match access) including member exclusive emails and you will maintain voting rights in 2020 (subject to voting eligibility).

In the event that spectators may attend AFL matches later in the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, you will be provided with access to the matches applicable to your original package (subject to availability, AFL and Government restrictions and applicable health measures).

If you hold an adult or concession membership and have paid your membership in full, or continue your monthly instalments and pay the balance of your membership amount in full, you will be eligible to receive a free signed guernsey.

If you stop your monthly instalments you can pledge the amount already paid to the club but will not be eligible to receive a free guernsey.

All membership payments pledged to the club will remain with the club (except for any GST payable to the ATO) and will not be passed on to the AFL, Marvel Stadium or the MCC.

To be eligible for a free guernsey you must be an adult or concession member holding a High Mark, Silver, Bronze, Flexi Home & Away or National membership and nominate by no later than June 30, 2020 to pledge your 2020 membership amounts directly to the club.

If you hold multiple memberships, you will be eligible to receive one guernsey per eligible membership. Both adults in a family membership are eligible to receive a guernsey. 

You must maintain your current membership and ensure your membership is paid in full in accordance with your original payment plan to be eligible to receive the guernsey.

The free guernsey is a 2020 home guernsey - event guernseys such as the Anzac Day guernsey are not part of the offer. It is expected that the 2020 and 2021 retail home guernsey will be the same.

You will be able to choose from a list of selected players to sign your guernsey. The club will contact you separately (before the end of the 2020 season) to select a guernsey size. Size selections are final and cannot be exchanged.

You can nominate one of the following players to sign your guernsey: Joe Daniher, Orazio Fantasia, Dyson Heppell, Cale Hooker, Michael Hurley, Anthony McDonald Tipungwuti, Andrew McGrath, Zach Merrett, Darcy Parish, Dylan Shiel, Devon Smith, Jake Stringer, David Zaharakis. Player signatures are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. If a player is not listed on the form when you go to choose them, they have reached their capacity and have been removed from the list.

Requests for personalised messages, heat press numbers or signatures from multiple/alternative players will not be accepted.

If you reside in Victoria, your guernsey will be available for collection at Essendon's first home game in 2021. If you cannot pick up your guernsey at the match, you can arrange collection from the club or choose to cover the cost of postage.

If you reside outside of Victoria, guernseys will be posted in early to mid-2021.

FREE membership upgrade

To be eligible for a membership upgrade you must be an adult or concession member holding a Flexi 4 Game, Flexi 8 Game or Mighty Bomber membership and nominate by no later than June 30, 2020 to pledge your 2020 membership amounts directly to the club. Where this membership forms part of a family membership package, the upgrade can be applied to the full family membership for 2021.

The difference between your current membership package and the upgrade will be free. You still need to pay the amount equal to your current membership in 2021. E.g. If you are a Flexi 4 Game adult member you will pay $85 for your 2021 membership but you will receive Flexi 8 Game membership. If you change price category e.g. move from junior to concession you will pay the concession price for your 2021 membership and then receive the relevant free upgrade.

Flexi 4 Game members will receive a free upgrade to a Flexi 8 Game membership for the 2021 season. Beyond the 2021 season, your membership package will continue as a Flexi 8 Game membership, at the ordinary retail price. You can revert to a Flexi 4 game membership by contacting our member services team at any time prior to round one of the relevant season.

Flexi 8 Game members will receive a free upgrade to a Flexi Home & Away membership for the 2021 season. Beyond the 2021 season, your membership package will continue as a Flexi Home & Away membership, at the ordinary retail price. You can revert to a Flexi 8 game membership by contacting our member services team at any time prior to round one of the relevant season.

Mighty Bomber members will receive a free upgrade to a Flexi 4 Game membership for the 2021 season. Beyond the 2021 season, your package will continue as a Flexi 4 Game membership, at the ordinary retail price. You can revert to a Mighty Bomber membership by contacting our member services team at any time prior to round one of the relevant season.

Please note: Membership upgrades cannot be exchanged for a free guernsey or any other benefit. Free guernseys are only available to members in other specified membership categories who meet the eligibility criteria.

Convert to a tax-deductible donation

By choosing this option, your membership payments (less $20) will be provided to the Australian Sports Foundation as a tax-deductible donation with a nomination to support the club as a beneficiary.

You will receive a receipt from the Australian Sports Foundation for your donation.

If you choose this option, you will not be entitled to match access for 2020 and your donation cannot be reversed.

$20 from your membership amount will be retained by the club to reflect the value of benefits already provided and this component of the membership amount is not tax-deductible.

Receive a credit for 2021

You agree that the club can retain all of your 2020 membership payments, but you will be entitled to a credit towards a 2021 EFC membership of equal or greater value.

To be eligible to receive a credit, your 2020 membership amount must be paid in full. Credit is not applicable to Mighty Bomber members.

Credits are calculated based on your 2020 membership amount and are dependent on your 2020 membership category. Credits are up to 50% for reserved seat memberships (depending on the category) and up to 30% for general admission memberships (depending on the category).

Credits will be forfeited if an eligible 2021 membership isn’t purchased by July 31, 2021.

Credit cannot be used for add-on products, and can only be applied to one membership and are not transferrable.

The balance of any credit cannot be redeemed as cash or applied to any season beyond 2021.

In accordance with current arrangements for the 2020 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, you will not receive match access in 2020, but in the event spectators may attend matches later in the season, you will be provided with access to the matches applicable to your original package (subject to availability, AFL and Government restrictions and applicable health measures).

Receive a refund

Refunds are payable less a $20 cancellation fee and to reflect the value of benefits already provided.

If you choose the refund option, ensure your contact details are up to date in your account as they club may need to contact you to arrange a refund.

If you paid by EFTPOS, cheque, money order, BPay or cash, for your refund to be processed most efficiently you will be asked to supply a credit/debit card details, if possible.   

If you paid by credit or debit card we will process your refund to the same card (if possible).

Refunds will take up to 28 days after processing to appear in your account.

Other

Consecutive years of membership will be honoured regardless of the option selected, if you purchase a 2021 membership by July 31, 2021.

The options above are available only for memberships purchased before May 14, 2020 (you may still be eligible for a refund if entitled under the Australian Consumer Law).

If you have purchased a reserved seat membership in 2020, your reserved seats will be protected in 2021 if your membership is renewed before the cut-off date outlined in your 2021 renewal notice.

For members on a 10-month payment plan - if you do not advise the club of your preferred option by May 25, 2020, the club will rely on that non-response as your consent to the club proceeding to collect your remaining 2020 membership payments. You will, however, be able to obtain a refund of any further payments collected and stop any subsequent payments by contacting the club.
