Mr Bowyer remarked that the club had been particularly attracted to Banfield’s experience in the Melbourne Football Club and Sandringham Football Club alignment relationship. “Peter will not only bring to the Bendigo Bombers a wealth of experience in participating in the AFL as a player and as an assistant coach, but has a tremendously hard-working ethic and proven skills in developing young players into long-term AFL careers”.
Banfield demonstrated through the interview process a burning desire to have full control and accountability for a football club and the Bendigo Bombers board believes that he is the best possible person to lead the club into an exciting era.
Geoff Bowyer expressed particular thanks and gratitude to the efforts of Damian Drum over the last 12 months and his unswerving commitment to the club and his role as a football ambassador in the community where he is greatly admired by not only Bendigo Bombers supporters but by the community at large.
“Bendigo Bombers wishes Damian all the best in his political future and look forward to Damien playing a key, but different, role in the development of the club’s future”.
