Despite showing signs of being competitive throughout the match, Bendigo coach Adrian Hickmott said the Roosters’ defensive pressure and attack on the ball was too good for the Bombers.
“The result was obviously disappointing but they are a top two side and their bodies are much stronger than ours,” Hickmott said.
“Their usage of the ball was much more effective than ours and we need to learn from that going forward.”
Hickmott highlighted the performances of Hayden Skipworth, Jay Nash and Heath Hocking as positives to come out of the match.
“Hayden Skipworth played really well,” Hickmott said.
“He had 17 handballs and 10 kicks so it was a worthwhile day for him.
“Heath Hocking was also good. In the last quarter he showed a lot of run and carry and was a very effective player for us.”
