VFL SIDE PUSHES FOR FINALS BERTH
The Essendon VFL side faces another crunch match this weekend against Port Melbourne at Windy Hill this Saturday. The Bombers put themselves in with a great chance of playing in this year’s finals series courtesy of last weekend’s nail-biting win over Carlton and victory this weekend would almost assure them of a top-eight finish. Injuries and suspension in the senior side will rob the reserves of some good players but they still appear to have enough quality to grab the four points. Get along to Windy Hill this Saturday afternoon and get behind the boys as they push for a finals’ berth. This week’s team is attached.

Paul Barnard will play his 100th game for Essendon Football Club against Sydney this weekend and it is a milestone he will cherish more than most. Barnard has never been one of the stars of the game - he didn't walk into AFL football and take it by storm and he won't make millions from the game. He is simply a bloke who battled very hard to earn his stripes. Initially he was one of those players match committees found easy to drop - when a spot had to be found for someone they would take the soft option. But Barnard kept working, kept performing and is now a regular in the Essendon seniors.
