The Bombers could call on Jye Caldwell against the Bulldogs, with the hard-nosed midfielder one of four inclusions to a 26-man squad for Sunday's elimination final at UTAS Stadium.

Caldwell joins fellow inclusions Andrew Phillips, Martin Gleeson and last week's unused medical sub Nik Cox on an extended bench, while no outs have been confirmed.

Should Caldwell be named in the final team on Friday, Sunday's game will mark his first AFL outing since he suffered a hamstring injury against Port Adelaide in round two.

The 20-year-old, who joined Essendon from GWS in the trade period, made a flying start as a Bomber before succumbing to injury.

He has featured in two scratch matches in the past fortnight, playing a half against Sydney before a full game against GWS.

The Bombers will name their 22-man team at 5pm AEST tomorrow.
