FLETCHER: WE NEED A TEAM EFFORT
After the 48-point defeat by Adelaide on the weekend, the Bombers find themselves 10th on the ladder and are in jeopardy of missing the finals. A win against Collingwood on Saturday night would greatly increase the team's chance of featuring in the September action. ""If we can win the last three, it gives us a real good chance to participate in the finals. If we even drop this week against Collingwood, we will be relying on other teams to win and lose. There is no doubt we have to start playing some good footy - not is bursts or in patches, but four good quarters,"" Dustin Fletcher said.

An intense Adelaide team out classed the Bombers on Sunday and Fletcher said the Bombers failed to match the speed of the Crow's players. ""It was always going to be pretty tough but we had a few patches I suppose but obviously you can't win a match like that, let alone win interstate. They seemed to rotate pretty well through the forward line and they had a few avenues to go through which hurt us. The mid-field is where the game is won and lost and they seemed to control things early and went on with it. We lost Ramanauskas early in the match which made it a bit tough,"" Fletcher said.
Fletcher believes you will see a more ferocious Essendon line-up on Saturday night and expect to see a lift from all players. ""You just can't rely on three or four players every week to do the job. You need everyone playing well and we plan on turning things around this weekend against Collingwood,"" Fletcher said.
Gavin Wanganeen and Bill Busbridge are the two wildcard entries into the Champions of Essendon. The judging panel consisting of Kevin Sheedy, Brian Donohoe, Ken Fraser and Tim Watson, selected the pair from the 37 remaining Champions of Essendon nominees. With the announcement of the two wild card entries earlier today - the 25 Champions of Essendon have been selected, however the order will not revealed until the Gala Dinner on Friday, August 30th, at the Palladium Ballroom. Who will be named Essendon's greatest player of all time?
