Essendon's VFLW side has strengthened its position on top of the ladder with a 57-point thumping of Darebin at Preston City Oval on Saturday.

The Bombers were restricted to three goals in the first half, but piled on six unanswered in the second to power to a 9.10 (64) to 1.1 (7) victory and stay undefeated.

It was yet another prolific performance from captain Georgia Nanscawen, who recorded game-highs in disposals (34), marks (seven), clearances (eight) and inside 50s (six).

The 29-year-old's dominance allowed the Bombers to control the midfield and smash the inside-50 count (43-19), with Mia-Rae Clifford, Joanne Doonan and Grace Dicker the main beneficiaries with two goals each.

The Bombers were without veteran goalkicker Cecilia McIntosh (hamstring), while star recruits Renee Tierney and Jordan Zanchetta also missed due to health and safety protocols.

Their win sets up a tantalising clash with second-placed Hawthorn from 11:30am at Box Hill City Oval on Sunday.
