The Bombers a thrilled to announce exciting young defender Zach Reid has recommitted to the club for a further three years.

The 20-year-old will remain in the red and black until at least the end of 2025.

Taken at selection No.10 in the 2020 National Draft, Reid was recruited from Gippsland Power in the year that also saw the Bombers sign Nik Cox and Archie Perkins at picks eight and nine respectively.

Reid became the 1178th player to don the sash when he made his debut against Brisbane in round five last season, and has played a further four senior games since after being sidelined with a stress fracture and glandular fever last year.

Standing at 204cm, Reid is one of the most exciting young tall defenders in the competition.

He said he was excited to secure his future at the Bombers for the next three years.

“I’m so pumped to have signed on with the club, and very grateful for the opportunity to commit for a further three years,” Reid said.

“We have a lot of development ahead of us and we know the wins will come, but we’re all really hungry to stick together and build something special under ‘Truck’ (senior coach Ben Rutten).”

General manager of list and recruiting Adrian Dodoro said Reid was an important part of the Bombers’ future backline.

“This is a great signing for our club, Zach is a wonderful young man and has already impressed us with how he carries himself,” Dodoro said.

“For such a tall player, he has wonderful balance and strong kicking skills. He is quiet and unassuming but has an inner competitive streak that will serve him well throughout what we believe will be a long career for the Bombers.”

Reid’s re-signing follows those of Nick Hind, Nic Martin, Jayden Laverde and Sam Durham in recent weeks.
