First-year midfielder Ben Hobbs has been awarded the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination for round 14.
Hobbs becomes the second Bomber to claim a nomination this year after Nic Martin (round one).
Having played nine games since being selected with pick No.13 in last year’s NAB AFL Draft, Hobbs produced his best game for the Dons against the Saints.
The 18-year-old shone with 22 disposals, five marks and two tackles.
Amongst this year’s rising star cohort, Hobbs sits fifth for total inside 50s, sixth for marks and ninth for total and effective disposals.
Hobbs will be among 23 nominated players vying to become the overall 2022 NAB AFL Rising Star winner, with the winner to be awarded the Ron Evans Medal, along with $20,000 from NAB and a dedicated private banker.
Dyson Heppell (2011) and Andrew McGrath (2017) are the Bombers’ only Rising Star winners since the award’s inception in 1993.
