Bomber veteran Mark McVeigh was released from hospital this morning and will spend the weekend at home recovering from blood poisoning.
The 29-year-old spent the past five nights under observation after a cut on his elbow flared up and became infected. He was admitted to hospital late Sunday night following the clash with Fremantle.
""I am feeling ok but I still have a bit to go - I still feel a bit weak,"" he told essendonfc.com.au exclusively today.
""My elbow was pretty swollen during the (Fremantle) game and, after the game, I was physically ill and had to go to hospital.
""I just want to play for Essendon and I am pushing as hard as possible to be available as soon as possible.
""I will be staying home all weekend recovering and I want to thank all the family, friends and fans who have wished me well.""
