General manager football operations, Paul Hamilton said Watson suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Bombers win against Brisbane on Saturday night.
""Very disappointing news, we were hoping it was just back related but the scans show a grade 1 hamstring strain,"" he said.
""He will definitely miss this week, then we have the bye and he'll be touch and go for the Melbourne game so we'll have to wait and see.""
Defender Henry Slattery will also be missing for at least the next fortnight with a similar injury.
“It is a little bit hip related but unfortunately we also found out today Henry has a grade 1 hamstring strain as well,” Hamilton said.
Michael Hurley, who was a late withdrawal from the match against Brisbane, remains in doubt for the Dreamtime at the G clash.
“It’s actually the muscle tendon that connects to the big toe that is the concern so we’ll assess him later in the week and the doctors will have to make a call because we don’t want it to inflame and turn into a long term injury,” Hamilton said.
In good news, midfielder Brent Stanton is likely to return after overcoming his injury concerns.
“He had a bit of concussion and a sore shoulder but that has all come up well and he’s almost a definite for this week as long as he gets through training and he’s fine.”
