Essendon's senior and development wheelchair football teams enjoyed big victories over Hawthorn in the first-ever VWFL games at the NEC Hangar.

The Bombers' senior side defeated Hawthorn 18.7 (115) to 6.6 (42) in a comprehensive result.

The 73-point win was set up by Kevin Coombes Award, presented by Coles winner Caleb Logan and his monstrous 14-goal effort. The performance also earned Logan a VWFL team of the week nod.

Defender Louis Rowe was unreal in defence, shutting down Hawthorn’s forward entries at will.

The development league side also enjoyed a comprehensive result against the Hawks, running out 14.8 (92) to 2.2 (14) winners.

Ben Milton won the Development League Kevin Coombes Award presented by Coles for his outstanding game, while Erin Power and Caleb Powell also featured amongst the best. All three players earned VWFL Round 10 team of the week honours.

The wins sees the both sides sitting second on their respective ladders.
