Essendon has named a 24-player squad for their AFLW practice match against Port Adelaide on Saturday.
On home turf at the NEC Hangar, the Bombers will take on fellow inaugural AFLW side Port Adelaide from 12pm (AEST) in their last hit-out before round one.
Bombers fans are encouraged to get to the NEC Hangar to see the club’s newest team in action, with a range of AFLW stars on display.
The players with AFLW experience lining up for the Bombers include Bonnie Toogood, Maddy Prespakis, Georgia Gee and Steph Cain.
Seven VFLW premiership players will also play in the practice match, with Danielle Marshall, Alana Barba, Joanne Doonan, Federica Frew, Amelia Radford, Renee Tierney and Alex Morcom named in the squad.
Five Bombers’ draftees will also get their first taste of AFLW football with Amber Clarke, Paige Scott, Stephanie Wales, Mia Busch and Mia van Dyke running out in the red and black.
Bombers fans can catch both teams on Saturday, with the AFL team having an open training at 10am before the AFLW practice match kicks off at 12pm.
