Exciting Essendon forward Paige Scott has earned a round one NAB AFLW Rising Star nomination.

Scott was named alongside Port Adelaide’s Abbey Dowrick as one of two round one nominees.

Scott, Essendon’s pick No.8 in the 2022 NAB AFLW draft, earned the nomination after an outstanding debut against Hawthorn, where she recorded 16 disposals, 10 kicks and a goal.

Quickly becoming a fan favourite, Scott is a dangerous forward with explosive speed and strong around contests.

Hailing from Avoca in regional Victoria, the 18-year-old progressed through the Greater Western Victorian Rebels program before stepping up for Vic Country in the 2021 NAB AFLW U19 Championships.

Off the back of claiming the league goal-kicking award, Scott was also awarded All Australian selection in the 2021 NAB AFLW U19 team.

Essendon senior coach Natalie Wood said the nomination was recognition for Scott’s dedication to her football.

“I’ve been really impressed by Paige’s commitment since the moment she first stepped inside the club,” Wood said.

“Every week, straight off the training track, Paige comes to me for feedback and her consistency in wanting to get better is very impressive.

“She is growing into herself at this level and investing into the team, so I’m extremely proud that Paige has received this nomination as recognition for her hard work and commitment.

“Paige is an incredibly exciting player and we can’t wait to see her continue to grow at this level.”
