The Daniher dynasty is set to continue at Essendon with 16 year old Joe Daniher committing to the club. The Bombers will select Daniher under the father son rule in the 2012 National Draft.

General Manager Football Operations Paul Hamilton said the club is delighted that Joe decided to pursue his AFL career at Essendon.

""We are thrilled that Joe has decided to put his faith and trust in our club,"" Hamilton said.

""We believe Joe is a very talented and mature young man and we're excited about his future and working closely with him to help his development over the next few years.""

Joe is the son of champion fullback Anthony Daniher and although he was eligible to be taken under the father son rule by Sydney, he decided to join his older brother Darcy and continue the proud history of Daniher's to play for the Bombers.

""This certainly shows a lot of trust in the club, the coaching group and the strong development programs we have assembled,"" He said.

Manager Player Personal Adrian Dodoro said Daniher is a skilful and agile ruckman who can also play forward and is among the best 16 year olds in the country.

""He is a prodigious talent and this is a major coup for Essendon given that if there was a National Draft for 16 year olds, he would be number 1 or 2 at the moment,"" he said
