BOMBERS SUFFER COSTLY LOSS
Essendon has suffered a surprise loss against Fremantle at Subiaco. The Dockers played an ultra-possession game and held off the injury-hit Bombers by 27 points. Essendon lost Blake Caracella and skipper James Hird to sickening head knocks, while Scott Lucas and Mark Mercuri didn’t take their places in the selected side. Joe Misiti was great for the Dons and debutant Shane Harvey snagged three good goals, but Fremantle was too strong in the finish.<p>
