The 2023 pre-season has officially kicked off for Essendon.

On Monday, November 21, the club's first to fourth year players were back for day one.

Despite not being required back until December 5, there were many senior players amongst the bunch keen to get started under new senior coach Brad Scott.

Young NAB Auskicker of the Year Archie Stockdale was the first face players saw as they walked in early Monday morning.

It was a huge day for young Archie, who shared the time with his family, watching the players train, and learning about the NEC Hangar. But his most important job of the day, was his exclusive interview with new senior coach Brad Scott.

To top things off, Essendon drafted a new young gun on Monday as well.

The players' first day back at training consisted of a main skills session held out on the oval, as well as a session in the gym.

Archie Perkins and Massimo D'Ambrosio spoke to the press, welcoming new methods under senior coach Brad Scott, as well as a different attitude towards the coming year.

The players hit the gym on Tuesday after an indoor craft session.

Fans also got the chance to get to know key defender Zach Reid a little better.

On Wednesday, the players were back out on the field for a longer main skills training session, followed by some individual physical development in the gym.

Fans had the chance to ask young guns Ben Hobbs and Pat Voss questions during a TikTok livestream. They answered fan questions for 20 minutes, kicking off the first TikTok live of 2023.

After a rest day on Thursday, Friday saw the players return for another big session and fans got to see vice-captain Zach Merrett mic'd up at training.

After the boys hit the track again, a solid main session was followed by a gym grind.

On Saturday, the players finished off a gruelling first week back with a solid Saturday early morning conditioning session at Fawkner Park.

A lap of the tan finished off by hill runs were the main feature of the session, with young gun Jye Menzie and senior star Kyle Langford shining brightly in the session.
